Diabetes

There are way too many people that make assumptions about diabetes. Let's clear things up:

  • It is a TERRIBLE disease
  • I didn't cause it
  • It doesn't mean that I am old or fat
  • I am NOT ON A DIET
  • There is no cure
  • It is not a minor thing-this is serious, people. It will shorten my life. Many people are blind or have amputations from not taking care of themselves.
  • My pump only gives me insulin (it doesn't check my blood sugar or cure me)
  • When I test my blood sugar, it doesn't mean that I don't have to do a shot. Both go hand in hand and both are necessary 5-8 times a day.
  • I have type 1, not type 2. Do some research. They are completely different.
  • I am not restricted
  • I can still swim and shower, I just unscrew the site of my pump
  • My pump site is on my belly.
  • Headaches = very bad. When I have a headache, make sure I test my sugar
  • When I say that I am high, I am not talking about drugs.
  • My diabetes will never go away
  • I am really scared because of diabetes.
That's the end of my issues of the day. It was caused by people that I have known for years, yet they still cannot comprehend the fact that I am fine and really not fine at the same time. Please don't offer me fruit instead of toffee. If you do this, I will eat the toffee just to prove that I can. I love toffee.
