I think that if I were to make a movie, the song 'Blood' by The Middle East would be playing when two best friends who are on opposite ends of the world suddenly decide that they've loved eachother all along and they both race to get home as fast as possible. The song would probably end in an airport. So typical. But I'm lovin the song fo sho!
Who would've thought that an apology from a tampon company could be oh so funny?!

Commencing Eye-Roll Sequence...
I signed up for far too many difficult classes.
They're stretching me so thin, I may snap.
Oh, wait! I just did....
Whoops!

Say What?!
(That symbol right up there (?!) is called an 'interrobang')
I missed all of my classes today for "Be the Change" day.
Then I went to Ure's room where Carly and I had a dance party.
And Miss Ure ended up calling people on my phone and telling them how her fish became pregnant.
(That means she was talking to my friends on my phone and explaining how fish get pregnant. I don't think you realize how awkward this is...)
All I wanted was a fact.
And now I have some explaining to do.
And my clothes are dirty from collapsing onto her floor.
And I flailed.
And cried.
From laughing.
But "Be the Change" made me cry for real.
But it's over now and no one will ever hear about how it went from me.
Weirdest day.

Alright... I've been slacking...
And I apologize.
(Note that I didn't say 'sorry')
This year has been the greatest year thus far in my life! I'm loving the whole 'junior' thing a supra lot! I've had many adventures and many things that you just wouldn't believe if you weren't there... I can't even begin to try to catch you up on everything... So I won't! I'll just start from this weekend.
Thursday was the most Friday-like day of my life! It is hard to believe that it wasn't a Friday. During school my parents left for Vegas and my cousin Hannah came over to watch us. Talk about a party! She's my favorite little toot butt!
When I got home from school, I did homework, filmed a music video with my brother, and went to the school to watch Despicable Me for Junior week (which was incredible!).
Thursday night was so fun and I came home from the movie to find Ali and Savannah looking at my baby pictures. They're the greatest.
Friday was very long. I fell asleep after school and woke up 1 minute before I was supposed to be at work! I was a few minutes late that day...
I got off of work at about 10, and went straight to Ali's where we partied it up with Mama Mia Sing-Alongs. After that, we drove around and caused all sorts of trouble before I went over to the Bailey's house.
Saturday was absolutely the best!
I woke up and made myself some exquisite eggs, cleaned up a bit, and headed off to the farmers' market in Provo. It was the greatest and the Arepas were delicious (as always). We left the farmers' market to go to Good Earth where we had some good times.
I came home to a brand new National Geographic magazine--which I love more than you can even believe--and I read it for a few hours before walking around in the rain.
When I decided to return to reality for an hour or so, I called up some friends to come work on a project that we are presenting in AP English tomorrow. Our meeting was short and sweet, and when it was over, Ali walked in!
Ali and I then talked for a while and called Conner over to come see Apollo 18 with us. It was so great. But so scary. And so nerf...
We were a bit nerf after the movie, so we went to Wal-Mart and Target to buy Flipped to watch at my house. It was a nice, calm, cute movie to calm the nerves.
At my house we made bacon and paninis and we had a little incident with a rock spider in my hair... Ali scared me so bad!
Flipped was watched by us after the eating and it was superb! I sure do love that movie...
Conner left and Ali and I snuggled up in a blanket talking on my porch for an hour! My neighbors were spying through their blinds... AWKWARD!
And now it is Sunday. It is the one year anniversary of my friendship with Ali Ball. Oh, how I love her!
Do something ostrobogulous this week...
(And don't forget to study for AP US!)

I think it means that you like someone when you see them and have to stop to breathe again because you're pretty sure that you just had a heart attack and you think that your face is suddenly in danger of meeting the floor.

Today
I woke up, gave Skeetch a shower, got my swimsuit on, and had the greatest day!
My family and I went boating with the Parks on Utah lake! It was my first time to Utah Lake (though I've lived within miles of it for 10+ years). I skied, skurfed, and went EXTREME tubing! The tubing part resulted in a face that looks like I was in a fight!
After that, I had a massage. Basically the best thing imaginable - especially after boating!
On our way home from the massage, we picked up some Cafe Rio! Can this day get any better?! YES!
I went over to Ali's house where we laughed until we were on the verge of sobbing, saw shooting stars, and realized that sometimes boys have more drama than a whole cheer squad (all while on a trampoline!)
After that, I stopped by the Bailey's where I had my first "blondie" and made it onto the measuring wall! (I am as tall as Spencer was when he was 8...)
This day has been one of the best!

Rosi Golan
I felt in my heart that it was time
A change of scenery
To get a little lost, to feel alive
And reach beyond me
I walked into the first café in France
I'm so clichéd
When I saw him, I felt the room divide into pieces
Oh, the lights danced around us just like stars in the sky
One night in Paris with a man I barely knew
I'm lost in the moment
C'est la vie
C'est la chance
C'est l'amour
It happened all too fast
The perfect night, the perfect strangers
The way he wrapped the curl of his mustache
Around his finger
And like a little girl who's never been to Disneyland
When I saw him, I felt the room divide into pieces
A change of scenery
To get a little lost, to feel alive
And reach beyond me
I walked into the first café in France
I'm so clichéd

One night in Paris with a man I barely knew
I'm lost in the moment
C'est la vie
C'est la chance
C'est l'amour
And when I think about him, I wish I had it all
To do again because I want to be just like Marie,
So let them eat their cake
When I saw him, I felt the room divide into pieces
Oh, the lights danced around us just like stars in the sky
One night in Paris with a man I barely knew
I'm lost in the moment
C'est la vie

Dientes de Leche
There is this one place called Peru.
I was in that place!
In fact, I returned mere hours ago!
(though that may not still be true because it takes me ages to finish a quality post)
(Yeah... I got home on Sunday at 4... It is Monday night and I am still writing...)
(Yeah... I got home on Sunday at 4... It is Monday night and I am still writing...)
There are so many good things in this place.
Also, it was my very first time off of the continent!
Do realize how exciting that is?
I like other continents called not North America.
I think I may just live on one today.
Here's how my adventure went:
Friday, June 17
We left at about 5 a.m. to go to the airport. Then we flew to Atlanta from Salt Lake and from Atlanta to Lima.
That makes it sound pretty simple, but in reality it took ALL DAY. No joke. I was up for 24 hours just doing that! We slept on the floor of the Lima airport.
Saturday, June 18
From Lima we flew to Cuzco to drop off our bags and about 40 of the 50 members of our group to go to a place called Urubamba, Peru where they would stay until Monday while we were in the jungle!
From Cuzco a few of us flew to Puerto Maldonado where a little van picked us up, made us buy all the water we would need for our time in the jungle, then took us to a river called Madre de Dios where we took a long, skinny boat to our bungalows (which took 1 hour... talk about middle of nowhere).
On the very day of our arrival, we went to Monkey Island, which is a little island across the river where monkeys which were captured as pets are set free to live in peace. On this island of monkeys, one sat on my shoulder and scared my mom worse than I've ever seen her.
That night we went hunting for caimans. They are basically little alligators. They were very cool, but for me the coolest part of that night was the stargazing. Stargazing in the middle of a huge river surrounded by the Amazon jungle where you can see billions of stars, the Milky Way, and hundreds of constellations that you cannot even see from America. It was gorgeous.
Sunday, June 19
We woke up pretty early to eat breakfast and leave on a hike through the jungle to a place called Apu Victor Lake. We took a boat down the river, got out, and hiked about 5 kilometers to a small lake where we rowed around in a canoe (that we had to bail the whole time and Michael had to plug a hole with her gum). Then we hiked a ways further to Apu Victor Lake where we climbed onto a tower and looked out to the most beautiful view I have ever seen. From there we hiked back to our bungalows to take a nap.
The gum used to plug the hole in our boat |

I must have been super out because no one could wake me up from my nap, so everyone else went to look at caimans while I slept. Lucky for me, it was uneventful. While they were out, I decided to go exploring! I went into a banana grove where I saw a Pisote and a flock of Brown Agoutis (Brown Agoutis are basically R.O.U.S.'s. If you don't know what that stands for, you're missing out!)
That night I slept in a hammock in perfect view of the stars. I wish that I could do that every night.
Monday, June 20
We woke up early to leave for Urubamba. We took our boat-then-van-then-plane-then-bus-then-walking trip to the clinic, which was held inside of the LDS church building there.
At the clinic, we did dentistry for people who needed it desperately. It is very sad when you have to extract a tooth from a child who has a bad infection on a baby tooth.
From Monday through Thursday morning I was in charge of the puppet show that taught people when and why they need to brush their teeth in Spanish. It was quite the challenge to deal with the kids. They can be rebels sometimes.
Wednesday, June 22
I bought a mask at lunchtime during clinic.
I scared people at night with Marissa, pretending to be Carlos Rancheros.
I brought Zach to his hands and knees because he was so scared.
I rock.
Thursday, June 23
I got to assist in the oral surgery room! It was so much fun in there and I was 0% grossed out by the blood, puss, and cracking of bones!
Assisting Dr. Harris in oral surgery (He took out my wisdom teeth!) |
Friday, June 24
We woke up early-again- to take a bus-then-train-then-bus ride to Macchu Picchu. It was the most incredible thing! There were llamas and ruins and heights and indescribable views. I loved it and would most definitely love to do it every day. (though with the altitude, you're out of breath after about 3 stairs...)
When we were finished at Macchu Picchu, we rode the bus back down the switchbacks and caught a train. The train ride was 3 1/2 hours long. During this train ride, I was extremely tired. I guess that I am funny when I am tired because I brought my whole table to tears from laughing so hard! I sat with Marissa, Zach, and Sam (talk about best group ever!) and had an absolute blast! We played an extremely intense game of Egyptian Rat Screw, laughed, cried, drew, and much more. To top off the ride, our 'flight attendants' decided to scare the living daylights out of us by wearing an evil pig/man costume and dancing through our cart. Then, to make it all even crazier, they put on a fashion show of items made solely of baby alpaca. Does this happen on all trains? Actually, I'm sure it couldn't be real... Yet it is...
We got off the train to go night shopping and sleep on rock hard beds until 4:00 in the morning (Yep. We got up before 6:30 every day. Actually, 5:00 or earlier would probably be more accurate).
Saturday, June 25
Next, we left our hotel and got on a bus, which took us to the airport in Cuzco where we caught a flight to Lima.
We went to the temple in Lima (though they wouldn't let us in to do work) and said goodbye to the Smiths.
Next we went to Larcomar (?) where we ate at Tony Roma's, saw the beach, and rested ourselves in a supra fancy hotel before taking off at 8 to go to the airport for our 12:40 flight to Atlanta.
Sunday, June 26
Our final flight ended at 2:00 in the afternoon (remember how we left at 8:00 on Saturday?). Then our car battery was dead and it took an hour to jump it. I have never been so tired.
And to end it all, I came home to a beautifully decorated driveway! I vote that that is the best note to end it on.
The end.

Peeve
Please don't be flaky.
Lately everyone has been flaky.
Sure, it's summer
sure, I am not getting mad
but that is only because it is summer.
Keep this up, and I just might implode.

New Friends
About 3 weeks ago, I made a new friend! Eliza and I wanted to play with someone new and fun, so we called up Emily! It was the first time either of us had played with her and it was seriously one of the most fun nights ever! Now, I have played with Emily more than 20 times (multiple times each day) and we have played every day this week! She's a gem and I love doing mischievous things with her (that's all we do together!)
Now Emily and I are making new friends! I made several new friends yesterday/Tuesday with her and we have a play date set up for tomorrow with some friends, one boy whom I have never even talked to, and a mystery person who this boy is bringing! I am so excited!
This summer is already the best one so far!
Also, this is my last week to play with Emily for the entire summer! I leave for Peru next week, and she leaves for Alaska the day I get back! She won't even be home until the day before school starts!
-Allershun
P.S.- Today is my first day working at a real job! I work from 5:30-close!

No One Blogs Anymore
I am really good at hearing the lyrics of a song.
Also, I enjoy getting my hands dirty
And being mischievous.
I think I'm good at that last one.

Too Casual
I think that manners should go back to the way they used to be.
Not to the extremes of bowing and only saying "sir", but just to the point of carrying a girl's books for her and dressing up to get on an airplane, etc.
Let's be real.
What happened?
We are too casual now.
And that is another reason that I should have been born in 1935.

Adventures
My weekend started out on Friday with Physics Day at Lagoon.

Yes. It was pretty fun being at Lagoon with 7,000 other physics nerds...
And the bonus of being there was that the National Clogging Competition was going on at the same time! That means that Sara and Katie were there! I love these cloggers...
Immediately following Physics Day (I do mean immediately literally) we left for Blue John Canyon (aka the place where Aron Ralston was trapped and had to cut his arm off)! It was a beautiful hike, though we were lost for a while in the blasting heat.
While on this adventure, we...
- Hit a hawk with our car
- Were caught in a mini tornado, and lost some items to the sky
- Found bones that would equal a whole cow if put together
- Were lost
- Found those among us with bladders of steel (and also those of paper)
- Almost had two concussions among us
- "It's better to go in the wilderness than to die of dehydration"
- Had quite the experience!
On the 3+ hour drive! |
